In my new series of acrylic paintings on wood, I use layers of paint shrouded in darkness to conjure up images of the Deep Sea, of things we may never see, things that may be bleached away by climate crisis and rising sea temperatures. Capturing light and form from “Underneath”, these paintings are also an exercise in looking - in training our eyes to see in the dark and to look for the light.
